DESIGN PHILOSOPHY OF THE PARTICULE´S PUMP "PERFILS"

No bigger desapointment than having a tool that cannot answer all scientifics needs.
However nothing is more difficult than designing an instrument able to satisfy all needs and still being simple to operate.
The toolbox must be reduced to a minimum.
Whatever the pile-up of elements, the scientist should not need a mechanical training, especialy when the theory demonstration is performed at sea, far away from his land station and very often with an empty stomach due to the sea conditio
n.

PUMP

Due to the difficulties to control the outflow, it is the pump that controls it. The pump is a TECHNICAP design. It is a volumetric piston pump. It includes four pumps driven by a magnetic coupling.

COMPONENTS OF THE "PUMP"

- Structure with stainless steel 316 Ti.
- Power supply in an hyperbaric coffer (3 hours at 12 L/mn app.)
- Motor/electronics in an hiperbaric coffer.
- Electronic control
- Sixteen-position valve plus a "0"
- Eight screen holders, diam. 142 mn.
- One hight outflow pump
- Magnetic coupling
- One or several chromatographics columns.

 

CONTROL´S ELECTRONIC

Simple and effective design. Window´s operated software, operating paraneter´s update. Exemple :
- Reset of the date and time for beginning of the first samplimg.
- Flow per minute:
- Volume of water to be pumped throught the first fliter.

Operating exemple :
Parameters have been set for 240 liters at 12 L/mn.
If the pressure difference exeeds the resistance of the filter, then the flow of the pump decreases so as to stay below that value untill the total requested volume has been pumped. Scientist can verify throught his PC, after the "PERFILS" is brought back to the surface, the real pumped volume.

Indeed, it is better to filter a smaller volume than the programmed one, than break a filter.

 

EIGHT TO SIXTEEN POSITION VALVE PLUS A "0" AND EIGHT TO SIXTEEN SCREEN HOLDERS, diam. 142 mm..

The eight to sixteen position valve and the eight to sixteen filter-holders make up a package easely detachable from the motor module. Accordingly the scientist brings into the laboratory only what he needs to perform his work.

 

MAGNETIC COUPLING

It is also controlled by the electronics. If a jaming event happens, a fish, for exemple, (it already happened in TECHNICAP´s sediments traps), the decoulpling of the magnet stops the motor. Again, it is better to stop sampling rather than break the instrument.

 

ONE OR SEVERAL CHROMATOGRAPHIC COLUMNS

Any type of column chosen by the scientist (or TEHCNICAP model) can be adapted.
