No bigger disappointment than having a tool that cannot answer all scientifics needs.

However nothing is more difficult than designing an instrument able to satisfy all needs
and still being simple to operate.

The toolbox must be reduced to a minimum.

Whatever the pile-up of elements, the scientist should not need a mechanical training, especialy when the theory demonstration is performed at sea, far away from his land station and very often with an empty stomach due to the sea condition.
